Michelle is a first-year medical student at UCSF interested in becoming a primary care provider for underserved communities in urban settings. She was born and raised in San Jose, CA before completing college at UC Berkeley. Her passion for Asian American health and language disparities was inspired by her experience growing up in a Vietnamese-refugee family, as well as her advocacy work at Health Leads during college. Her research interests include health promotion & disease prevention in vulnerable communities, community-based participatory research, and developing knowledge for health policy makers. Michelle's work with AAPI communities includes conducting research projects under Dr. Janice Tsoh's mentorship.
